Workshop Software lets you hide the unit cost column on the invoice screen so that front-of-house staff cannot see your cost prices. This guide shows you how to toggle this setting.
Step 1: Hide the Cost Field
- Open an invoice.
- Click the green Actions star icon in the Customer Invoice bar.
- Select Hide Cost Field from the dropdown menu.

Step 2: Verify the Column Is Hidden
- The screen will refresh and the Unit Cost column will no longer be visible.
- If you save the invoice with the cost hidden, it will remain hidden when you reopen it.

Step 3: Show the Cost Field Again (Optional)
- To restore the unit cost column, click the Star icon again.
- Select Show Cost Field — the column will reappear on screen.

Good to Know
- Hiding the cost field only affects the on-screen display. The unit cost is always hidden from the customer on printed and emailed invoices regardless of this setting.
- This is useful when front-of-house staff are creating invoices and you do not want them to see your cost prices.
- The setting is saved per invoice — if you hide it and save, it stays hidden next time you open that invoice.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will hiding the cost affect the invoice total?
No, hiding the cost column is a display-only change. All pricing and profit calculations remain the same.
Can I set this as the default for all invoices?
This setting is applied per invoice. There is no global default to hide costs on all invoices automatically.
